What Calx is, and is not

Calx estimates the calories and nutrients in food from photographs, descriptions and barcodes, and keeps a log of what you record. The estimates are estimates. A photograph cannot weigh a meal, and the figures the app gives you are a reasonable reading of what is visible, not a measurement. The app lets you correct every figure, and you should.

Calx is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. The calorie and nutrient targets it suggests are computed from standard population formulas applied to what you told it about yourself; they are a starting point, not a prescription. The app will not suggest a target below a floor it considers safe, and it will not let you set one below that floor either. If you have, or think you may have, a medical condition or an eating disorder, talk to a clinician before using any calorie tracker, including this one.

Your account

An account is created for you the first time you open the app. You may link it to a Google account. You are responsible for what is done with your account on your devices. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Account, or as described on the account deletion page.

You must be at least 13 to use Calx, or 16 in the European Economic Area and Switzerland. If you are under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian to use it and to buy a subscription, and the app works differently for you, as described in the privacy policy.

Subscriptions and purchases

Some features need a subscription, bought through Google Play. The price, the billing period and any free trial are shown on the plan screen before you buy, in your store currency, and are the ones Google Play charges. A free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then; the app tells you the date. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You cancel, change or restore a subscription in Google Play, not in the app, and Google Play's refund policy applies.

A streak restore is a one-time purchase that records one missed day in your log as logged. It applies to the one day the app offered; it cannot be moved to another day and is not refundable once applied.

Acceptable use

Do not use the app to try to break, overload or reverse the service, or to reach anybody else's account or data. What you post for other people to see is governed by the community rules below.

Community rules

These rules apply to everything you put in front of other people in the app: your public profile's name and username, the names and descriptions of groups, and messages in group chat. You agree to them when you create a public profile, which you must do before you can create, join or post in a group.

Reporting and blocking. You can report any message or any person from the app, and block anybody. A blocked person's messages and leaderboard position are hidden from you in every group, and they are not told. A message you report is hidden from you straight away, and the person you report is not told who reported them.

What we do about it. Group chat is not reviewed before it is posted. Reports are reviewed by a person, reports of self-harm first. A message reported by three members of its group is hidden from the group until it has been reviewed. When something breaks these rules we remove it, and we may reset a public profile's name, suspend an account from posting, or close it. A report is not an emergency service: if someone may be in danger, contact your local emergency number.

Your content

Your log, photos and corrections are yours. You give us the right to process them in order to run the service as described in the privacy policy, including using de-identified estimates and corrections to improve the model. Nothing you record is shown to other users except what you choose to publish on a public profile or post in a group.

Availability and liability

The service depends on third parties (Google, Supabase, Anthropic) and on the internet, and will sometimes be unavailable. The app keeps working from what is stored on your device and syncs when it can. To the extent the law allows, LongSession LLC is not liable for loss arising from reliance on an estimate, from unavailability of the service, or from anything outside its reasonable control. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

Changes and termination

We may change these terms; if the change matters, the app will tell you before it takes effect. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Wyoming, United States.
